The West Wiltshire Interfaith Group
CONSTITUTION
1) The name of the Group shall be West Wiltshire Interfaith Group.
2) The aim of the Group shall be to provide for people of all different faiths or no faith to meet together in friendship, and gain knowledge, respect and understanding in and around West Wiltshire.
3) We aim to learn from each other and to show that we all have much to learn from each other.
4) The Executive Committee shall consist of the following officers:
i Chair Person – The Chair Person will not be required to chair every meeting. The Chair Person will chair the AGM or appoint another Officer.
ii Secretary - The Secretary will circulate brief notes and actions from the Committee meetings; the Secretary will manage Membership records and communications with Members.
iii Treasurer - The Treasurer will manage the Group’s fund, keeping accurate accounts and presenting a financial report at each AGM.
iv Other Members may be co-opted as agreed by the whole Committee or voted on to the Committee at an AGM.
5) Committee Members may be removed from the Committee by majority vote of the rest of the Committee.
6) Only Members of the Group may be Committee Members.
7) The Committee shall meet at least 3 times per year.
8) Membership of the Group shall be open to all interested people of every nationality, race, religion, gender and age.
9) The annual subscription for Membership will be £5.00 for the years 2005/2006. Thereafter the annual fee will be decided by the AGM (Annual General Meeting).
10) Individuals shall achieve Membership by sending an application form to the Secretary and their acceptance by the Executive Committee.
11) Members shall acknowledge the aims of the Group.
12) Members shall receive regular updates on the Group’s events.
13) Members will have opportunity to engage in dialogue with others in a friendly and supportive environment.
14) Adult Members will be entitled to vote at the AGM.
15) There will be two types of meetings:
i. Members meetings:

Will be lead by a
Member or invited Speaker.
·
Members will be able
to bring guests.
·
Members of other
appropriate Groups may attend.
·
There may be a charge
to cover the cost of the room and speaker’s expenses.
ii. Public Meetings:
·
Will be publicly
advertised.
·
There may be a charge
to cover expenses.
16) The Executive Committee shall be responsible for:
i All the activities of West Wiltshire Interfaith Group, ensuring that these activities are in accordance with the stated aims;
ii Convening the Annual General Meeting;
iii Promoting and encouraging new initiatives in interfaith work;
iv Ensuring equal rights for all participants in the activities of West Wiltshire Interfaith Group;
v Maintaining
links with the Interfaith Network for the
vi Publicising the aims and activities of West Wiltshire Interfaith Group;
vii Organising and publicising Programmes of Events and consisting of events organised by West Wiltshire Interfaith Group, alone or in collaboration with local faith communities or other interfaith events, both local and elsewhere in the South West, or other events of possible interest;
viii Convening special meetings of the Executive Committee to discuss matters concerning their responsibilities, detailed above. These meetings will not be open to all Members.
17) Amendments to this Constitution may be proposed by any four Members of the Group and must be submitted to the Secretary in writing.
18) This Constitution may only be amended at an AGM, or at a meeting specially called for that purpose and notified to Members at least four weeks in advance; the proposed amendments must be circulated with the agenda.
19) The Group shall have a bank account; all expenditure in excess of a limit, as agreed by the Committee, shall be approved by two Committee Members and logged in a diary.
20) If the West Wiltshire Interfaith Group should cease to exist, any funds or assets shall be dispersed to an organisation having similar aims.
This Constitution has been adopted after due consultation among the Members of West Wiltshire Interfaith Group Executive Committee.
